A #TinkerTown Finale

Friends, Supporters, & Fellow Tinkerers,

A year ago we began a journey to explore new territory that blurred the line between our notions of what was uniquely digital and what was primarily physical in this world.

During the past year we participated globally in the natural camaraderie of sharing a drink with one another. As we explored, we spent time collaborating and sharing our discoveries while making sweet shit. We put our hardhats together and joined in to pioneer elaborate and extravagant ways of dispensing energy to our cohort as part of the Redbull Creation Competition. Along the journey we tried to help others like ourselves learn from the work we’d done, contributing all we could to the community that had helped us from the beginning. All throughout we looked to shine some light on this new space, which we believe is full of endless possibilities.

We know the future is bright for tinkerers of all kinds — from digital builders to physical makers — and this remains true for us. As with any new endeavor, the path ahead is often unclear at the start, and in our case the path has led to new and exciting opportunities for each of us in our Nations Capital and on board an intergalactic Starship. It is with much appreciation that I humbly close the door on Little Tinker today and, in the style of one of our greatest influencers, I would like to leave you all, our beloved and adored supporters, believers and friends, with this:

It has come time for this hardhat wearing crew to close the doors and start anew,

For each of us on our life’s long quest to break new ground and share the best.

We must part ways to pursue those dreams in different fields and across different streams.

Thank you to all for your support, and helping us setup our Fort.

You joined us when we set in flight a gumball machine meant purely to delight.

The time has come to say goodbye, and we do so with a much wiser eye.

Many said we were naive, but because of people like you we continue to believe.

Thank you for sharing in this journey with us. It has been a great reward to share these experiences with all of you.

Namaste.

Instagram Screensaver with IFTTT, Dropbox, and Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8)

I’ve always wanted a way to show off my Instagram photos while I wasn’t at my computer.

Alright that was a lie, but it’s certainly a cool concept. When I updated to Mountain Lion this morning I realized that they added some awesome new photo screensavers. Naturally, I wanted to choose a great set of images to use so my mind went right to Instagram. You’ll need the following four things to make this happen:

  1. Instagram
  2. Dropbox
  3. IFTTT (if this then that http://ifttt.com) - this is a web service that can monitor several different social media networks and automatically perform actions for you.
  4. OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
